“A complete review of T1 access services” |
T1 Access to the Web Written by: Patrick Oborn - Mar 18, 2010 The t1 line rates is a digital transmission service that can be used for carrying voice and/or data. A T1 connection is sometimes referred to as a "dedicated service" as the service is delivered to and from the customer premise from the CO (Central Office) without combining it with other traffic. A T1 connection is established by providing a "loop" or wire from the user’s premises to the CO where the service provider has equipment. Part of the cost of a T1 is the "loop charge" or the monthly rental fee for the wire that is rented from the local phone company. Once the connection reaches the CO it can access the carriers network and reach any destination. T-1 provides high speed, point-to-point digital transmission line (up to 1.544 Mbps). This can be used as a single high-speed data channel or it can be split into 24 channels and allocated to either voice or data applications. It is widely deployed and readily available in most regions and although the service is not diminished by distance from the CO, the price is sensitive to distance. This is due to the rental of the loop from the LEC (Local Exchange Carrier). T1 is currently the most common way that large companies connect their LAN to the rest of the world. Are you ready for T1 service? You may be ready if you have critcal services that need a reliable connection to the internet. If you run ASP services, host e-mail servers or web servers, have over 20 people accessing the internet or use video on demand you should consider T1 access. While it is more expensive that DSL, T1 access is made to support the above applications. Also remember that when you begin shopping for T1 service you should partner with someone who will act as your agent and represent your best interests. Consider using a broker or agent to help you with your search and cut through some of the industry lingo to help you get exactly what you need. |

T3 lines are used for data needs over very long distance or heavy bandwidth. Standard E3 connections are fully capable of supporting more than 600 phones on one connection. Because it’s not common for small and mid sized organizations to have this need, mostly only very big global corporations lease the T3 lines. Many of our carriers and service providers offer free managed cisco routers for multi-year contracts! The way people shop for business class solutions and optical carrier products will never be the same again, only copied. An Optical Carrier 24 Circuit or OC-24 line transmits data speeds of 1,244.16 Mbps (Mbps). Not only will we save you the most money, we'll figure out a way to do it without sacrificing the integrity of your t1 voice service. Optical Carrier 768 or OC-768 Lines/ (Synchronous Transport Module) STM-256x transmits rates of data at a speed of 39,813.12 Megabits per second (Mbps). It is also good to have the specifications you need listed down on paper when buying for an Ethernet switch as each one will have its weight on pricing. All telecommunications systems include professional installation with your subscription. Our Internet Access has 50 millisecond on-net latency, 95 millisecond off-net latency with a variety of port speeds and access methods with 24x7x365 customer support. SDSL's flexibility can rival that of more expensive T1 service, at a fraction of the cost. A T1 line can send data over the line at an alarming rate, while many lines carry the data at 30, 000 bits per second. Cable modem service is not recommended for use by Internet servers for a variety of reasons. Hosted PBX systems are generally put into place to handle large incoming call volumes. Regardless of which T1 provider you choose, your Service Level Agreement or (SLA) should include guaranteed response times that are measured in minutes or hours, not days or weeks. AboveNet provides high bandwidth connectivity and Ethernet solutions via a Fiber Optic Backbone. There are many functions that one could choose to optimize expenditure, but only focus on those that will improve your business. Gigabit Ethernet (GbE or 1 GigE) is a term explaining many technologies for transmitting Ethernet frames at a rate of 1 gigabit per second, as described by the IEEE 802.3-2005 standard. Only businesses and large corporations utilize T1 lines, occasionally a T1 Line will be put in a residence. Global Crossing's Dedicated Access Telecom products offer High-Speed Internet solutions for businesses that need high-performance and full-time dedicated Internet access with QoS. The CLEC gets all the benefits without the investment that the LEC has to incur, and the customers of the CLEC are happier with their service. The downfall to the T1 cables is the costs; they are a lot more expensive then simply utilizing your regular telephone lines instead. Lower overhead always means lower prices can be offered to the consumer, which is one of the many benefits of the CLEC. Data lines are connected to a router serial interface and often are used to deliver Internet connectivity. A portion of the fiber optics system that is not being used is called dark fiber. Bonded T1 lines are often utilized by businesses that upload and download large video and audio files. One must be demanding of internet service and equipment providers and get the best out of them.
